The Mudan Necklace - Sterling Silver

The tree peony or mudan (牡丹) signifies the third month of the lunar calendar and symbolizes longevity, loyalty, happiness and eternal beauty. Bats ( 蝠）on the pendant are a symbol of prosperity in Feng Shui. Considered an enhancer for wealth, the sound of the word for bat in Chinese, “fook” is very similar to the word for prosperity and foortune “fuk.” Bats in Chinese culture are considered very auspicious good luck charms with the ability to ward off evil or negative energies.

Mudan 花開富貴（牡丹花和蝙蝠) 

牡丹被中國古人稱為萬花之首，因其花朵絢麗繁盛，常被人們用來指代雍容富貴的形象；而蝙蝠在花開富貴的意思，取的是蝙蝠的「蝠」與「富」的諧音，暗含富貴的寓意。也寓「遍福」，象徵幸福，如意或幸福延綿無邊之意。
